A study released in the British Journal of Nutrition has shown that organic milk contains higher levels of a number of nutrients than non-organic milk. This is because organic cows spend more time grazing outdoors on lush, nitrogen-rich pastures. There are around 50% more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids in organic milk than conventionally produced products and slightly higher concentrations of iron, Vitamin E and some carotenoids. Organic milk and dairy also contain 40% more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is linked to a range of health benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and obesity, so going organic can boost the nutritional pay-off from including dairy in your diet.
We are proud supporters of buying British wherever possible, but unfortunately, the UK doesn’t have the climate to grow all our ingredients all year round, so we have to look abroad for some things.
