Oxford Mestar Ltd
UK based innovative company originally formed by Oxford University scientists, leading in developing digital diagnostic devices for self-testing and professional use, and in designing cell expansion systems and 3D printing solutions.
Company description
Oxford MEStar was set up in 2014 by a group of scientists from Oxford University’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering. The company is active in two main lines of business: advanced therapy manufacturing and in-vitro diagnostics.
Oxford MEStar has years of R&D experience in custom bioreactor design, prototyping and manufacturing, with applications in advanced cell therapy, vaccine production and stem cell expansion. Oxford MEStar is currently focusing on application testing and design refinements for bioreactor products. In 2017, Oxford MEStar entered the IVD market with ‘measure bowel health’, the first digital at-home testing kit for detection of early signs and symptoms of bowel conditions including cancer. Oxford MEStar set up a manufacturing operation in China for component manufacturing, whilst retaining assembly, quality control procedures and marketing in the UK, where we are ISO13485 and ISO9001 certified.
The current product for self-testing is CE marked for at-home use, allowing us access to European markets. Further product development, with the release of a clinical testing version as well as a range of further tests using the same proprietary platform, is in the pipeline for coming years.
Oxford MEStar is currently focusing on developing sales in the UK and internationally. During the past year, we have secured a stable quality supply of our products, and are now in the position to start expanding internationally. We launched in Ireland in December 2018 and are now seeking strategic partners for the international distribution of our products.
If you are interested in distributing ‘measure bowel health’, the first digital bowel health self-testing kit, please get in touch, providing information about the country in which you wish to distribute, the geographical reach, what experience you have in medical self-testing kits, and the proposed market entry strategy (e-commerce, physical retail, through private/public healthcare systems, etc.).
