Winetraders is a professional importer of fine estate wines from Italy, Spain, Germany and New Zealand, founded in 1997 by Michael Palij MW. Canadian Michael immigrated to England in 1989 after studying English and philosophy in his hometown of Toronto. He obtained his wine master status in 1995 at the age of 29. His retail career was shortened when he was recruited as a wine buyer and set out on his first buying trip to Italy. He immediately fell in love with the country and its wines, and since then has visited Italy over 100 times. Winetraders operates worldwide, but most of their business is in the UK, supplying trade and local wholesalers Majestic and Waitrose.
