Brewery of award-winning craft and traditional beer. A fast-growing English craft brewery offering a portfolio of craft and traditional beers. Brewed with top-quality ingredients (including hops from our own hop garden) by a skilled team led by our Master Brewer.
Company Description:
We’re a small family-owned brewery tucked away in the village of Tongham, in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region. Brewing since 1992 We first opened our doors on the 4th August 1992, in 18th-century farm buildings that at various times have stored wheat, and housed cattle and, appropriately, hogs. The brewhouse was what is now our shop and the very first brew was TEA, which was an instant hit. The range wouldn’t be complete without traditional favourites like TEA and RipSnorter. But we’ve added Hogstar Lager and Hazy Hog cider for a more contemporary feel.
Hogs Back Brewery was established in 1992, one of the original English small breweries which spearheaded the revival of cask beer brewing. Taking its name from a local main road, a medieval trading and pilgrim route leading from the west-country to the cathedral city of Guildford.
In 2012 the brewery was acquired by Rupert Thompson, a much-respected beer industry figure who earlier in his career created the Old Speckled Hen brand and subsequently ran the Refresh Brewery and launched the Hobgoblin brand.
Under Rupert’s leadership, the Hogs Back portfolio has been completely rebranded and diversified including the addition of interesting, award-winning craft beers. In 2016 sales grew by 22%. Hogs Back have won numerous national and international awards.
The company brews a number of traditional beers (and an interesting cloudy cider) which are packed in 500ml bottles and craft beers and lager in 330ml bottles and cans. From the beginning of 2017, we will be offering one-way kegs.
